The Missing Peace creators perform in Chicago

On September 11, 2017 Shana Simmons, Jamie Erin Murphy, and Brady Sanders performed sections of The Missing Peace as part of the Leadership Illinois Conference / Power of the Marketplace Conference.

What is The Missing Peace?

The Missing Peace, a Shana Simmons Dance Production created by choreographers Jamie Erin Murphy, Brady Sanders, & Shana Simmons.

Raw truths. hope. healing.

The Missing Peace invokes hope, empathy, and inspires action. Together we can create change, support and encourage others.

In March 2018, Shana Simmons Dance will present three choreographer’s works by; Brady Sanders, Shana Simmons, and Jamie Erin Murphy through the debut of a split-bill show titled The Missing Peace. This evening length performance is dedicated to those whose lives have been affected by Alzheimer’s Disease, suicide, and struggles with identity. Through partnerships with local social service organizations, the choreographers will work closely with individuals in the Pittsburgh community living with or touched by these social issues.  Sanders will work with the Alzheimer’s Association, Simmons with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Murphy with local therapists in Pittsburgh.  This one-on-one time will inform each of the pieces in sensitive and provoking ways by providing perspective, trust building, and foster meaningful relationships. The choreographers will plan workshops with their designated organizations and volunteer time to support affected individuals. The entire process – from the planning stages to the final rehearsals – will be documented on video which will premiere alongside the live performance.

Additional project initiatives include a fundraising campaign, “The Hope Series," a 6 month schedule of fun events for all ages. A percentage of all proceeds will directly contribute to making The Missing Peace possible. Details to be announced mid October 2017.
